USFWS Alabama Art Contest
From Friday, March 26 2010 -  8:00am
To Friday, May 21 2010 - 5:00pm
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is celebrating Endangered Species Day by encouraging students to learn about threatened and endangered plants, fish, and animals through art.  The Service is hosting a statewide art calendar contest open to all students in public, private or home schools.  To enter, the student will draw or color a picture of one or more species listed as threatened or endangered in the state of Alabama. Contest entries are due to be postmarked by May 5.

Judges will pick 13 winners throughout the state.  The winners will be broken down into one winner per grade, beginning with grade one and ending with grade twelve.  Each winner’s artwork will represent a month on our 2011 Endangered Species Day Calendar.  The overall state winner’s artwork will be the calendar’s cover.  In addition, the overall winner’s classroom will also be given a $500 gift card for biology/science supplies, and have his or her artwork framed with a plaque.  We will announce the winners on Endangered Species Day, May 21, 2010.
