The Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, winter home of the world's largest flock of endangered whooping cranes, will host Endangered Species Day on Saturday.

Children get in free to the event where they will learn about plants and animals on the federally endangered species list as well as other native species that inhabit the area.

Activities available Saturday include a 16-mile tour loop, seven walking trails and various observation stops. Visitors may also take a ride on an interpretive van tour.

Videos on wildlife will be running at the refuge, and children can partake in arts and crafts activities.

Experts will be on hand to answer questions about wildlife and endangered species.
