Tara has worked in the environmental and social justice movement for more than 20 years.
She was previously the Executive Director for the Military Toxics Project (MTP), a national network of neighborhood, veterans', indigenous, peace, environmental, and other organizations representing people affected by military contamination. In the 1990s,
Tara was the National Toxics Campaign Fund’s northeast organizer and the statewide organizer for the Citizen’s Trade Campaign in Maine. She coordinated outreach programs for environmental organizations including: South Carolina Wildlife Federation; Texans United in Houston; Clean Water Action Project, Virginia; and the Long Island Citizens Campaign. Tara is a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors for the International Campaign to Ban Uranium Weapons (ICBUW).
She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Many and One Coalition (MAO), which works to end racism and oppression in our communities.
